Week Ten: Michigan State (9-0) v. Rutgers, November 12

Series History: First meeting in 1988, Michigan State leads the series 4-3.

What Happened Last Time: 2015: Michigan State won 31-24.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights:

The Rutgers offense has a chance to be decent this season, returning starting quarterback Chris Laviano, two 600+ yard rushers, three senior receivers and four starting offensive lineman from last year’s team. On defense, the defensive line is actually going to be a strength, but everyone behind them is less than inspiring. No starters return among the linebackers, and the secondary is just not good. The Scarlet Knights will be better than a lot of people think, and might get a surprise win or two. The rebuild is underway in Jersey, but it might take a while.

Forecast:

Tyler O’Connor should have a great game against a poor secondary. Rutgers will keep this game close for a little while before Michigan State simply overwhelms them on offense. The Scarlet Knights are simply not there yet.

Final Prediction:

Michigan State: 35

Rutgers: 17

Should I Watch It?: Michigan and Iowa will be going at it and the Pac-12 has a couple of intriguing matchups as well. This won’t be a bad watch, but there are better games out there this week.

Season Record: 10-0
