Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills: Game Time, TV, Radio, Live Stream
By Zac Snyder
The 2016 preseason comes to a conclusion as the Detroit Lions host the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field in week four of the 2016 preseason schedule.
The Detroit Lions end preseason play tonight against the Buffalo Bills but there are still some things to get settled before the regular season begins.
With a roster of 75-players cut down to a “final” 53 for the regular season this weekend there are jobs on the line at the bottom of the roster. But there is still some sorting out to do closer to the top as well.
Tavon Wilson appears to have gained an upper hand on Rafael Bush for the starting strong safety job but head coach Jim Caldwell wouldn’t let on to the situation any more than that it is competitive. He had the following to say this week:
"“It’s been extremely competitive and both guys have done well. Both guys have tackled well. Both guys run with the ball extremely well and that bodes well, I think for us. Obviously, we have two veteran guys that have certainly been extremely active and they’ve done a great job. The more the merrier.”"
The first team offense hasn’t exactly been firing on all cylinders but they don’t figure to get much time to work out the kinks tonight. Jim Caldwell was non-committal earlier this week when asked how much the starters will play, only acknowledging that some will while other won’t.
"“I’m not certain. It’s not going to be a blanket statement across the board or anything of that nature. There will be some guys that will play. There will be some guys that will play a little and there will be some guys that won’t play at all.”"
Caldwell was equally as vague specifically regarding quarterback Matthew Stafford.
"“We have not made all of our final decisions yet, so we’ll wait and see how practice goes the next couple days and make a decision toward game time.”"
If Stafford does play it won’t be for more than a series or two and it may not be much more for Dan Orlovsky when he comes in to relieve Stafford. The preseason finale figures to be all about Jake Rudock at quarterback as he makes his final impression before the Lions have to decide whether to carry two quarterbacks or three during the regular season.
