This week’s football bets takes Oregon and Ohio State to cover the spread and Alabama to win outright in college football action and the Titans and Packer to cover in Sunday’s NFL games.

Football bets went 3-2 last week to bring the season total to 5-4-1. Our total (fake) investment has been 10 units and we’ve received back a total of 10.55 units.

All pick odds should be considered -110 unless otherwise noted. As a reminder, we’re doing this just for fun as an entree to upcoming weekend in football. Don’t actually put money on games — you’ll lose.

Oregon Ducks +3 at Nebraska – Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

Nebraska has looked good through the first two weeks of the season but Oregon will represent an entirely different challenge as the Cornhuskers’ first “real” opponent. The Massey Ratings likes Oregon by three in this one, for what it’s worth.

Alabama to win (-410) at Mississippi – Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

The potential return on this one’s not very good, but Alabama appears to be the class of the college football world. I’m treating this one like a freebie.

Ohio State -1 at Oklahoma – Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

The Buckeyes are looking to solidify themselves as favorites to gain entry to the College Football Playoff. They’ll need this win on their resume to stake their claim. The aforementioned Massey Ratings like Ohio State by a touchdown.

Tennessee Titans +6 at Detroit Lions – Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

The Lions defense ended week one as one of the worst in the NFL. They might still win the game, but the Titans will have opportunities to keep it close and possibly win outright.

Green Bay Packers -2 at Minnesota Vikings – Sunday, 8:30 p.m.

The Vikings still have questions at the quarterback position with Teddy Bridgewater out for the season. That’s a huge problem in the NFL. The Packers escaped a close call at home against the Jaguars in week one but should be up to the task in this division matchup.
