Fantasy Football: Week 2 NFL Daily Fantasy Picks
QUARTERBACK
Eli Manning ($8100) Giants vs. Saints – Most people remember the 52-49 shoot out that took place last year between these two teams where Brees and Manning combined for 13 touchdown passes. That game was played in New Orleans, a place that Brees has consistently been better throughout his career. Most people don’t realize it, but he actually averaged nearly 70 passing yards less per game on the road last year vs. at home. Nearly everyone will be looking to Brees this Sunday after the Saints looked great in week 1 and take on another poor defense. Eli was no slouch in that game last year himself putting up 350 yards and 6 touchdown passes. Much like I did with Stafford and Luck last weekend, I will take the cost savings on Eli this week who is just as likely to put up a huge game for considerably less salary.
Carson Palmer ($8200) Cardinals vs. Buccaneers – Palmer is a guy that consistently puts up elite quarterback numbers but isn’t widely considered as one of the NFL’s best. Week 1 he looked healthy and went out and had a very Palmer like day, 271 yards passing with 2 TD’s. This week there are 7 QB’s ahead of him in salary and I like his chances to be one of the top three highest scoring QB’s of the week up there with Cam Newton and Eli Manning. The Buc’s were consistently beat through the air last weekend and look to be a defense we can target all season.
Marcus Mariota ($7500) Titans @ Lions – Another takeaway as a counter point to the Lions offense being really good, their defense will not be. The Lions have the look of a team that is going to be playing in shootouts all season long. With their offense playing at a fast pace, this allows opposing teams to get more snaps and try to keep pace in a run and gun fashion much like Indy did last weekend to get themselves back into the game. Mariota is dealing with an offense that isn’t full of great weapons, but for his cheap price tag this week I think he has the ability to get to three times his salary (22.5 FanDuel) points pretty easily. He also adds the ability to add points on the ground making him a versatile threat that the Lions will likely let accumulate numbers throughout the game. Game theory also suggests that the Titans may be trying to come back in the second half increasing his chances for good numbers.
Others I Like – Matthew Stafford ($7800), Cam Newton ($9000), Derek Carr ($8300)
