The Detroit Jock City writers make their predictions for the Detroit Lions’ week three game at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.

The thrill of the Detroit Lions’ week one win over the Indianapolis Colts was quickly quelled by the week two home loss to the Tennessee Titans. Can the Lions get back on track by building on last season’s win at Lambeau with another rare road win over the Green Bay Packers?

Here is what the Detroit Jock City writers see ahead for this week’s game.

Erik Schlitt (1-1) – There’s no doubting Aaron Rodgers has been struggling lately. He has completion rate of only 58.6% over his last eight games. Teams have dropped seven in coverage and been able to get pressure with their front four. This has limited Rodgers ability to execute his offense. Add in a struggling run game and this hasn’t look like the Packers we’re used to seeing on Sunday.

The big question for the Lions will be: do they have seven they can comfortably drop in coverage? They should be able to generate pressure with their defensive line, but the health of this unit’s elite players is a major concern. As of right now, with Ziggy Ansah and DeAndre Levy unlikely to play, I think the injuries will be too much for the Lions to overcome. Packers 24, Lions 20

Matt Pelc (0-2) – The Detroit Lions are 1-1 on this season, right where I thought they’d be headed into 2016, but they flipped the script on how they arrived at their .500 record. There is certainly a lot of ancillary story lines headed into this week’s game at Green Bay for both the Lions and Packers. The Hail Mary, which will be shown and referenced no less than 174 times during Sunday’s game, the fact that the refs in charge of the debacle that led to the Hail Mary are doing the game on Sunday, and also the fact the Lions snapped their 24-game Wisconsin losing streak in the last game will all figure into the background of this one.

However, when you look at the two teams on the field, its quite apparent who will come out on top. The Lions not only lost composure during a mix of tacky and warranted flags last week. They also lost many key starters and role players that could have helped them stop Aaron Rodgers and company. Yes, Rodgers has been struggling, but the battered Lions’ defense, as it has for Rodgers and Brett Favre over the years at Lambeau Field, will allow his offense to get back on track. Packers win big, 38-24.

Matt Snyder (0-2) – The Tigers slayed the dragon last year when they finally won a road game against the Packers in Wisconsin. The end of that streak can only mean one thing: the beginning of a new one. The Lions were wrecked with injuries last week against Tennessee — a game they should have had sewn up midway through the third quarter — and the late collapse seemed inevitable by the end. I have the same feeling as I had last week when the Titans took over trailing 15-10. The Lions aren’t going to stop this. Please, just not in the face. Packers 27, Lions 20

Zac Snyder (1-1) – The sight of Richard Rodgers already haunts Lions fans thanks to last season’s Hail Mary in Detroit. I fear we’ll have another reason to cringe at the sight of Rodgers given how the Lions have defended tight ends so far this season. He has really grown into his role in the Packers offense and Aaron Rodgers could use a comfortable target to kickstart the Packers offense. Packers 26, Lions 20

Colton Wesley (1-1) – Green Bay isn’t likely to lose two division games in a row, especially when they get to play at home this week. Despite a bad game last week, Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers. The Lions are hampered with injuries, especially Abdullah, Ansah and Levy, and the Packers don’t have any massive glaring weaknesses. The Lions defense will likely struggle to contain the Packers’ offensive weapons. I think Green Bay simply outscores Detroit. Packers win, 34-21.
