Football Bets: Notre Dame, Florida State, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens to Cover
By Matt Snyder

Football bets picks Nevada, Florida State, and Notre Dame to cover in Saturday’s college football slate, and Carolina and Baltimore to cover in NFL action.
Football bets returns after a 3-1-1 record last week. We pushed on Oregon (+3 over Nebraska) and lost on the Packers (-2 at Vikings). We did win Ohio State (-1 at Oklahoma), Alabama (moneyline at Mississippi), and Titans (+6 at Lions).
That brings our season record to 8-5-2. We’ve received back 16.61 units on a total investment of 15 units.
We’re not actually betting on games, though, because that’s (1) illegal in most jurisdictions and (2) a very good way to lose money. Don’t gamble on game folks, you’ll lose.
We’re merely using betting lines as an entree into the football weekend at large. It’s a fun way to follow games you might otherwise miss.

Nevada +5.5 at Purdue
Purdue is a very bad football team. They’re maybe the worst in the Big Ten and certainly among the worst of any power conference. They might win this game against Nevada but the Wolfpack will make it close. The Massey Ratings likes Purdue by only two points.
Florida State -5.5 at South Florida
Last week’s embarrassing loss against Louisville is not going to sit well with Florida State Seminoles. They’re still a good football team, however, and they’ll look to use this weekend’s game with South Florida to remind us all of that fact.
Notre Dame -20.5 vs. Duke
Another team looking to get back to winning ways, the Fighting Irish can’t be satisfied with a 1-2 start. There’s some turmoil in South Bend and they might be willing to take their frustrations out on the overmatched Blue Devils.
Carolina Panthers -7 vs. Minnesota Vikings (-105)
No Teddy Bridgewater and now no Adrian Peterson. The 2-0 Vikings will have to piece things together against a Carolina Panthers squad that might be the best in the NFC. Seven points is a big margin, but the Panthers have a stout defense and enough offensive weapons to keep the Vikings in check.
Baltimore Ravens -1 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Can this line be right? The Ravens are looking like a playoff team in the AFC while the Jaguars are looking… decidedly not like one. The Jags have the home field advantage but this line is suggesting the Ravens would only be a two point favorite on a neutral field? I’ll lay the point.
As a reminder, all lines come from SportsPlays.com, a free faux sports betting site for fans who want to be entertained but don’t want to sink actual money into their bets. All lines accurate as of Thursday but are susceptible to move.
