When the Detroit Lions visited the Green Bay Packers in week three, several players stood out but it was Marvin Jones who performed the best and took home this weeks Game Ball.

The Detroit Lions tried to make this a ball game today, but couldn’t overcome a multitude of first half mistakes. There were a few Lions who stood out today but none more than Marvin Jones, which is why he earns this week Game Ball.

Marvin Jones had a career day

Last week Marvin Jones produced the first 100+ yard receiving game of his career. This week, he went for 205. Most of those yards came on a monster, 73 yards touchdown reception, which was also the longest play of his career. Here’s a video of that play:

Jones’s final stat line for the day was: six receptions, 205 yards and two touchdowns. He was a bright spot on a day where several Lions struggled. If he can continue to get open, and the coaching staff can continue to scheme to give him opportunities, Matthew Stafford has proved he’ll find him.

Other Lions who were considered

After three weeks, Kerry Hyder and Von Miller lead the NFL in sacks. It’s no surprise to see Von Miller’s name here, but Hyder continues to produce from a back up role. He saw an uptick playing time this week because of Ziggy Ansah’s injury, and he’s proved he earned it with his production.

Eric Ebron had an up and down game. He finished with five receptions (tying a career best) for 69 yards. He looked uncoverable at times. But, he also failed to reel in a perfect pass from Stafford that resulted in an interception. A second half injury limited his production and he finished his roller coaster day on a down note.

Darius Slay gave up one big play, and it took perfect throw from Aaron Rodgers to do it. Beyond that touchdown, Slay looked like the Lions best defender today. He had four solo tackles in the first half, while cleaning up others mistakes in coverage. Things were quiet in the second half as Rodgers stopped throwing in his direction.
