All the gameday information you need as the Western Michigan Broncos and Central Michigan Chippewas open 2016 MAC play with a big rivalry game.

Michigan and Michigan State may be the state’s big college football rivalry but today is all about the Western Michigan Broncos and Central Michigan Chippewas. Both teams have high hopes for the MAC season after getting wins over Power Five opponents in their non-conference schedule.

It’s the MAC opener for both teams. The winner gets a leg up in the MAC West race while the loser will have ground to make up and may need some help to reach the MAC Championship Game at the end of the season.

Western brings a veteran offensive group led by quarterback Zach Terrell and wide receiver Corey Davis. The offense has been prolific under head coach P.J. Fleck and now the defense has upped their game as well. Fleck has been building a nice program in Kalamazoo and there is a lot of reason to feel like this season could be his crowning achievement.

What’s going on in Mount Pleasant is impressive in its own right. Head coach John Bonamego beat cancer and took the Chippewas to the Quick Lane Bowl in his first season as Central Michigan’s head coach. With a road win, albeit controversial, over Oklahoma State, the Chips should feel good about setting their sights even higher this season.

The fortunes of both teams at least partially hinge on today’s outcome. The Broncos have been installed as a road favorite by book makers while the Chippewas look to defend home turf.

Here’s all the information you’ll need to find for Saturday’s Western Michigan at Central Michigan football game.
