The Cornerback

Senior Cordrea Tankersley (#25, 6’0″, 195) is expected to be a second round pick as of today, but I believe his stock in on the rise. Size, length, athleticism, balls skills, and the ability to play press man coverage will make him an attractive target for the Detroit Lions.

While not blessed with elite speed, he has the awareness and intelligence to put him in the right position to make plays on the ball. He has a knack for staying in the hip pocket of his receiver, using trail covering techniques and solid judgement. He can struggle with shiftier receivers, which is why he has been labeled as a bit “handsy” in coverage at times. This is also why he projects best on the outside in the NFL.

Cornerback will be on the list of positions to be upgraded this off-season, and Tankersley would be a solid fit opposite Darius Slay. If he’s there in the second round, he will surely be discussed by Bob Quinn and his staff as an upgrade to the Lions secondary.
