Detroit Tigers 2000-2009 All-Decade Team
By Matt Snyder
Right Field: Magglio Ordonez
Magglio Ordonez came to the Tigers in 2005 as a 31-year-old outfielder coming off of knee surgery. He had always been a tremendously productive hitter, but the warning signs of a stiff decline were there.
His first half-season with the Tigers (in 2005) was met with modest success although his power numbers remained low (eight home runs in 82 games). He exploded in 2006 and 2007, however, with back-to-back All-Star appearances and an runner-up finish in the 2007 MVP race.
Ordonez stayed productive until 2011 when he announced his retirement after a down year at age 37. His batting line with the Tigers in the decade of the 2000s was a rather eye-popping .320/.382/.495.
