Detroit Lions News: What They’re Saying About Win Over Vikings
By Zac Snyder
Detroit Lions news takes a look around the web at what is being said about the Detroit Lions’ week nine victory at the Minnesota Vikings.
Are the Detroit Lions really playoff contenders? That’s a popular talking point again this morning after the team’s big road win over the Minnesota Vikings yesterday.
There is still a lot about this team that doesn’t feel like a playoff team but Sunday’s win means it is time to take the Lions’ playoff chances seriously. That might say more about the NFC overall than the Lions specifically, but it is the situation they find themselves.
The NFC is a jumbled mess. The Dallas Cowboys have a head above the rest of the field at 7-1 while nine other teams are at least .500. That puts the Lions in the mix of a crowded Wild Card race but more importantly, Sunday proved that the NFC North Championship is in play. In fact, the Lions could see themselves move into a first place tie next week even though they are on their bye. If the skidding Vikings can’t get a road win against Washington, they fall into a first place tie with the Lions and potentially the Green Bay Packers.
That’s a dramatic change from a little over a month ago when the 1-3 Lions were looking up at the 4-0 Vikings. These are two teams moving in opposite directions while the Packers haven’t capitalized on the opportunity to seize control of the North for themselves.
We’ve already seen just how dramatically narratives and longer-term outlooks can change so there is a lot of “wait and see” that remains. But for now, for this week, the Lions can feel good about where they are and where they could be going.
Here is a look at what is being said about the Lions’ win over the Vikings around the web.
