Michigan State Football Runs By Rutgers, Ends Losing Streak
The Michigan State Spartans’ seven-game losing skid finally came to an end on Saturday with a 49-0 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The Michigan State Spartans won the matchup of the last two Big Ten team without a conference win on Saturday, blowing out Rutgers 49-0 to gain their first conference win of the season.

The Spartans struck first, Tyler O’Connor finding Josiah Price in the back of the endzone for a two-yard touchdown pass to cap off an eight-play, 58-yard drive and give Michigan State the early lead. Two plays later, Demetrious Cox picked off Rutgers quarterback Giovanni Rescigno and took it back 30 yards for a touchdown, doubling the Spartans’ advantage.
After another defensive stop, Michigan State added to the lead once again, O’Connor throwing a 50-yard touchdown pass to Trishton Jackson to make it 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. On their next possession, the Spartans made it 28-0, driving 92 yards in 12 plays before Price caught his second touchdown of the game from four yards out. Finally, L.J. Scott put the finishing touches on a dominant first half for the Spartans, adding a one-yard touchdown run just before halftime to give Michigan State a commanding 35-0 lead at the break.
The Spartans picked up right where they left off in the second half with an 11-play, 74-yard drive, Madre London scoring from two yards out to up the lead to 42-0. With 4:19 left in the third quarter, O’Connor exited the game and Damion Terry took over at quarterback. On Terry’s first drive, London scored again, the Spartans’ final score of the game, to put the finish on a 49-0 win for Michigan State.
