Catcher: Mickey Tettleton

Mickey Tettleton was not the most defensively gifted catcher in the league, but his powerful bat rarely disappointed. He joined the Tigers in 1991 at age 30 and spent four seasons in the Motor City.

He spent his first two years with the Tigers serving as the primary catcher before splitting his time three ways between catcher, first base, and outfield in 1993 and 1994.

Tettleton made one All-Star appearance with the Tigers in his final year with the club in 1994. His power totals were down that year — he only hit 17 home runs — but his season was cut short due to injury. Still, he posted the best OPS of his time in a Tigers uniform that season at .882 thanks, in part, to an astounding .419 on-base percentage.

Few players produced as consistently with the bat as Tettleton did. His .867 OPS with the Tigers during the 1990s led the franchise for the decade. He only played here for four seasons, but his offensive impact was second to none.

Tettleton spent parts of three seasons with the Texas Rangers after departing Detroit before calling it a career following the 1997 season.
