The Detroit Red Wings ended a four game losing streak on Wednesday night as they beat Buffalo in a shootout. They now head to face the Devils.

The Detroit Red Wings finally ended their losing streak on Wednesday as they beat the Buffalo Sabres. Gustav Nyquist got the scoring started late in the second period. But the Sabres would tie it just over a minute into the third.

The score would remain 1-1 until the shootout, as Thomas Vanek and Gustav Nyquist scored for the Red Wings. Jimmy Howard was once again outstanding as he stopped 32 of Buffalo’s 33 shots. With how well he’s playing we may have a goaltending controversy starting up.

He has outplayed Petr Mrazek most of this season and it really hasn’t even been close. According to ESPN.com his outstanding play has kept the Red Wings afloat.

As the Red Wings head to New Jersey to face the Devils, they face a tough challenge as the Devils are undefeated at home in regulation.

The Devils are very tough to score against as they rank 10th in goals against average with 2.4 per game. Both teams look to extend their winning streaks to two games tonight. Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

More from Detroit Jock City

Thomas Vanek has given the Red Wings a major boost since he’s returned. Hopefully that continues tonight.

As of this writing no starter has been announced, but with the Red Wings playing tonight and tomorrow, most likely both Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek will start this weekend.

I think Howard starts tonight. This team needs their goalies to step up until Holland makes a move for a defensemen.
