The Detroit Red Wings look to get revenge on the Montreal Canadiens tonight after the Canadiens embarrassed them two weeks ago.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the New Jersey Devils last night to extend their winning streak to two games. Last night’s game showed why I think this team has a bright future. After Frans Nielsen scored the first two goals for the Red Wings, the young guys carried the team until overtime.

The Red Wings fell behind 1-0 early but Nielsen scored twice to give them the lead after one. Unfortunately the Devils scored two goals less than two minutes apart to retake the lead. Dylan Larkin beat the buzzer as the second period was just about to end. The game was tied at three after two. Anthony Mantha would score 48 seconds into the third to give the Red Wings the lead until Adam Henrique tied the game.

The game would go into overtime where Mike Green scored for the first time in 18 games. The Red Wings have now won two in a row. Petr Mrazek allowed three goals in this game but in my opinion two of the three weren’t his fault.

Notice I said Mrazek even though Jimmy Howard started? That is because Howard had to leave the game midway in the first due to a groin injury.

Howard is expected to be put on injured reserve for at least a week, so Jared Coreau is most likely getting called up. The next few games will be huge for Mrazek has he looks to regain the form he had most of last season.

The Red Wings head home tonight to face the Montreal Canadiens who embarrassed them two weeks ago. Montreal was off last night so they’re well rested. Hopefully, the Red Wings come out energized tonight. The Canadiens still have the best record in the NHL but thankfully the Red Wings get them at the Joe tonight.
