The Detroit Pistons continue their four-game road trip with an important Eastern Conference matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday.

The early part of the Detroit Pistons season has been all about surviving while starting point guard Reggie Jackson is out due to a knee treatment. Whether or not they’ve done that is a matter of perspective. On one hand, the Pistons sit in last place in the Central Division, 6.5 games back of the Cleveland Cavaliers. On the other hand, the Pistons sit tenth in the Eastern Conference and only a half game back of a playoff spot.

Getting Jackson back in the lineup would be a huge boost, but when it happens is still unknown. He has returned to full practice this week, so a return to game action shouldn’t be too far off, but Stan Van Gundy has said he’s not counting on Jackson playing on this current road trip.

That puts the Pistons in a tight spot as they continue to wait for Jackson’s return. They face three more games on this current road trip – all coming against teams at least two games over .500 as of today. Tonight it’s the 10-7 Charlotte Hornets in the first meeting of these two teams this season. The Hornets make their first trip to the Palace in eight days.
