The Red Wings’ current captain has also proven to be one of the team’s best all-time players. The left winger from Sweden has been a dominant force since joining the Wings in the 02-03 season. With one Stanley Cup championship to his credit, Henrik Zetterberg actually finds himself as one of the players with the least team success on the roster.

The 210th overall pick in the 1999 NHL draft,  Zetterberg shocked the league by scoring 22 goals and 44 points in his 2002-2003 rookie season. Zetterberg’s peak season was in 07-08 , where he scored a career high 43 goals and 92 points.

Later that year he earned 27 points in the playoffs, leading the Wings to a Stanley Cup Championship and receiving the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff’s MVP.

With the retirement of Nicolas Lidstrom, Zetterberg became captain of the Red Wings in 2013. Due to his leadership and incredible skill level and hustle, Zetterberg will always be considered an all-time great Red Wings. Zettberg currently has 846 points in 934 games as a member of the Detroit Red Wings.
