ACC: Virginia Tech over Clemson

This game doesn’t have the same direct benefit to Michigan that Colorado-Washington does, but it would still help out immensely. If Virginia Tech is able to beat Clemson (Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on ABC), it would be hard to make an argument to keep the Tigers ahead of the Wolverines.

One week ago Michigan was ranked ahead of Clemson. Michigan lost their only game since then, an overtime loss to Ohio State that they were literally one inch away from winning, while Clemson would be 1-1 with a win over South Carolina and a loss to Virginia Tech. Advantage Michigan.

Unlike Colorado, Virginia Tech has no chance of entering the College Football Playoff conversation, so a win over Clemson would (perhaps) knock the Tigers below the Wolverines without muddying the waters with a new team to consider.
