Detroit Lions News: What They’re Saying About Win Over Saints
By Zac Snyder
Detroit Lions news takes a look around the web at what is being said about the team’s big week 13 road win over the New Orleans Saints.
It’s time to start taking the Detroit Lions seriously. Even at 7-4, it was easy to write the Lions’ success off as a fluke given the way they’ve won. Amazingly, they were the only other team in the NFL besides the winless Cleveland Browns to trail in the fourth quarter in every game this season. That’s not a recipe for success, but somehow the Lions made it work.
They didn’t need any fourth quarter heroics to put dispose of the New Orleans Saints. Finally, the Lions took control early and maintained control throughout the game. Sure, it would have been nice to score touchdowns instead of kicking field goals, but the Lions were mounting scoring drive after scoring drive while the defense kept Drew Brees and the Saints offense at bay.
With the 28-13 win, the Lions move to 8-4 and keep a nice cushion atop the NFC North. Their lead stretches an additional game with the Minnesota Vikings losing to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night as the Vikings drop into a second-place tie with the Green Bay Packers at 6-6. The Packers defeated the Houston Texans on Sunday.
A Lion win over the Chicago Bears next week puts the Packers in position of having to win out to even have a chance at overtaking the Lions for the division crown. Time is running out even more quickly on the Minnesota Vikings because the Lions hold the tiebreaker by virtue of the season sweep. It’s not over yet but the Lions took a significant step towards their first-ever NFC North championship.
Here is a look at what is being said about the Lions win around the web.
