The Detroit Red Wings head to Winnipeg tonight to face the Jets. The Red Wings are coming off an overtime win against the New York Islanders.

The Detroit Red Wings, after blowing a couple leads in the third, finally pulled out a win on Sunday. Detroit was down five minutes into the game as Anders Lee gave the Islanders the lead.

Mike Green ended up tying the game with about five minutes left in the first. Green would also score the only goal of the second period on a beautiful pass by Thomas Vanek.

But for the second straight game, the third period came and that means the Red Wings would blow the lead. After blowing a lead the night before, the Red Wings blew two leads.

Johnny Boychuk scored to tie the game two minutes into the third. Mike Green thought he had a hat trick to give the Red Wings the lead but Luke Glendening was ruled to have made contact with Jaroslav Halak. So the goal was waved off.

Henrik Zetterberg would give the Red Wings the lead anyway a few minutes later but because nothing comes easy for this team, they blew that lead…

Just two minutes after Zetterberg scored for the Red Wings, Josh Bailey scored for the Islanders on a Danny DeKeyser turnover. A Red Wings defenseman making a costly turnover, I know what a surprise…

Thankfully though, Danny DeKeyser redeemed himself in overtime as he scored the winner. Even though the Red Wings won, them blowing another lead is concerning.

In the last 14 games when the Red Wings have either had a lead or been tied in the third the Red Wings have lost eight times. EIGHT times.

For a borderline playoff team like the Red Wings, that is not good.

The Red Wings now head to Winnipeg to face the Jets. Last time these two teams played was just over a month ago.

This is going to surprise you, but in that game the Red Wings collapsed in the third period. Once again, I know, shocking.

Tonight, the Red Wings look to get revenge for that game. Petr Mrazek should get the start tonight but as of this writing no starter has been named.

Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

After losing five straight games, the Jets are red hot as they’ve won four of their last five games. The Red Wings hope to change that tonight.
