Tyrunn Walker

A season-ending injury ended Tyrunn Walker’s 2015 season just as it was starting to take off. He returned on a one-year deal this season in hopes of re-establishing the value it looked like he was going to set for himself in 2015.

Unfortunately, that mostly hasn’t happened and Walker has had his playing time cut into as a result. Things hit rock bottom when he was a healthy inactive against the Jaguars in week 11.

As draft season heats up you’re likely to hear about the Lions’ need for an interior pass rushing presence and a lot of that has to do with the underwhelming performance of Walker. He was a low-risk, potentially high-reward signing when the Saints chose not to tender him as a restricted free agent after the 2014 season because of cap problems.

The pass rushing potential he showed with the Saints hasn’t shown up this season. With an expiring contract, the Lions figure to look elsewhere to get some push from the middle of their defensive line.
