Detroit Lions Beat Chicago Bears, Matthew Stafford Injured
The Detroit Lions moved one step closer to a division title on Sunday with a 20-17 win over the Chicago Bears at Ford Field.
The Detroit Lions (9-4) were back to their late-game heroics on Sunday, winning their seventh of their last eight by defeating the Chicago Bears (3-11) 20-17, despite Matthew Stafford suffering an injury to the middle finger on his throwing hand.

The Bears scored first, Connor Barth capping off a 12-play, 60-yard drive with a 38-yard field goal to put Chicago in front. The teams traded punt before the Lions responded with a 12-play, 74-yard drive and tied the game with a 29-yard field goal. After Chicago went three-and-out, the Lions offense went to work again, going 81 yards in ten plays, Matthew Stafford finding Anquan Boldin for a 16-yard touchdown to take a 10-3 lead just before halftime.
A 54-yard field goal by Prater extended the Lions’ lead to 13-3, but the Bears quickly responded with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Matt Barkley to Cameron Meredith to cue the lead to three. The Lions drove the length of the field on their next possession, but an interception in the redzone by Demontre Hurst ended the drive. On their next possession, Stafford was picked off again, this time by Cre’Von LeBlanc, who returned the interception 24 yards for a touchdown to put Chicago in front for the first time with 7:07 left in the fourth.
The Lions, trailing in the fourth quarter for the 12th time this season, drove the length of the field, Stafford finishing a seven-play, 76-yard drive by scrambling the final seven yards himself for the go-ahead touchdown with 3:17 remaining. Barkley tried to lead his team down the field at the end, but penalties and drops stalled out the Bears’ drive and they turned the ball over on downs. Detroit ran out the final seconds to seal a 20-17 win.
