The Detroit Red Wings look to rebound tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers after coming up short against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

The Detroit Red Wings welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Joe Louis Arena tonight. The Red Wings are coming off a tough loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The Red Wings never led but, Jeff Blashill thought they played well but just didn’t get a good result.

Detroit tied the game at one early in the second period but that was the closest they would get. Columbus would score twice in the 2nd and then add a empty netter in the third to win the game 4-1.

This Blue Jackets showed they’re for real. Sergei Bobrovsky was really good again for the Jackets.

Detroit didn’t commit a penalty against the Blue Jackets so thankfully we didn’t have to see the best power play in the NHL.

Even though the Red Wings played well, they still lost. The Red Wings have to start winning again at home and they still have four games left on this five game home stand. Unfortunately though, things don’t get easier tonight as the Red Wings face the hottest team in the NHL, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Philly has won eight straight including beating the Dallas Stars last night. During this eight game winning streak, Philly has scored four goals or more in half of those games. That doesn’t bode well for the mediocre Red Wings defense.  Whoever is starting in goal tonight will most likely have to steal the game for the Red Wings to win.

Detroit beat Philly in their first meeting and hopefully they can go 2-for-2 against the Flyers. Detroit snapped a long 12-game winless streak in Philly in their first meeting this season, tonight they look to snap Philly’s eight game winning streak.

Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

More from Detroit Jock City

Neither team has announced a starting goalie for tonight’s game but my guess is the Red Wings will go with Jimmy Howard and the Flyers will go with backup Anthony Stolarz.

Howard came in for Petr Mrazek on Friday and I think he’s going to get his first start since coming back from injury.
