Detroit Lions News: What They’re Saying About the Win Over Bears
By Zac Snyder
Detroit Lions news takes a look around the web at what is being said about the team’s week 14 win over the Chicago Bears.
With the Detroit Lions‘ win over the Chicago Bears, their magic number to clinch the NFC North falls to two. That’s any combination of Lions wins or Green Bay Packers losses; as long as that number is two or more in the remaining three games, the Lions will enter the playoffs as the NFC North Champions.
It’s obviously be better to be the team ahead in this situation but there isn’t a particularly clear path to drop that magic number to zero before a week 17 showdown with the Packers. The Lions face back-to-back tough road games in weeks 15 and 16, starting with a road trip to take on the New York Giants next week before a Monday Night Football meeting at the Dallas Cowboys. Two difficult games, to be sure.
The Packers, meanwhile, will have it easier. They are at the Chicago Bears next week followed by a home game against the Minnesota Vikings. The potential for a slip up is there, but those are two games the Packers should win.
Maybe the Lions get a big road win and the Packers stub their toe and week 17 doesn’t matter. More likely, the magic number doesn’t get any lower than maybe one and the NFC North Championship Game is on. Recent history hasn’t been kind to Lions teams needing a week 17 win over the Packers, but don’t be surprised if that is what it comes down to this season.
Here is a look around the web at what else is being said about the Lions after week 14.

The Lions are back in action next Sunday with a big road game at the New York Giants. Not only are the Lions looking to keep a hold of the NFC North lead, the result against the Giants could go a long way to securing a wild card berth if they lose control of the division.
