Quarterback

1st Team: Wilton Speight, Michigan (redshirt sophomore)
2nd Team: J.T. Barrett, Ohio State (redshirt junior)
Honorable Mention: C.J. Beathard, Iowa

Right out of the gate, I need to remind you that this is a list of players ranked on their potential NFL future. There is little question JT Barrett is a better college quarterback, but his transition to the NFL will likely be similar to previous Buckeye signal callers. While Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller have found success at wide receiver, Cardale Jones stayed at quarterback and has yet to be active for an NFL game. I expect Barrett to return to Columbus for his senior season.

Wilton Speight has the highest NFL ceiling at quarterback with prototypical size, 6’6″ 243 pounds, and above-average arm strength. While he struggled vs Ohio State in the final game of Michigan’s season, he showed several NFL skills throughout the season. His poise in the pocket is elite and with him almost guaranteed to return to Ann Arbor, he’ll have time to grow and develop his skills further.

CJ Beathard is the only senior on this list and while he had a down season, he has enough of an NFL skill set to get a look at the next level. While scouts have got two years of game film, they will also get an up close look at him in Mobile, Alabama during Senior Bowl week. If he does well during practices, he could punch his ticket for a day three draft day selection.
