Tight End

1st Team: Jake Butt, Michigan
2nd Team: Josiah Price, Michigan State
Honorable Mention: Tony Fumagalli, Wisconsin (redshirt junior)

Jake Butt was recently honored as the winner of the John Mackey Award as the best tight end in college football. And, in a strong tight end draft class, it’s no surprise he finds himself near the top of most lists. Often compared to a young Jason Witten, Butt should hear his name called early on day two.

Josiah Price can often be overlooked in this deep draft class, but he has several skills that will translate to the next level. Solid route running and reliable hands, he will be an excellent complement tight end early in his career, with a chance to blossom into a bigger role as he gains NFL experience.

If junior Tony Fumagalli declares he could find himself drafted before Price because of his size (6’5″, 250) and potential. His strength is in his blocking, but he is an established pass catcher in short and intermediate zones. If he returns to school, he will be one of the top tight ends in the nation next season, with a chance to rise up draft boards.
