The Wildcats come into the Breslin Center looking for their first NCAA tournament appearance and are currently riding a nine-game winning streak, including an 88-77 win in their conference opener against Penn State on Tuesday.
Northwestern scores an average of 78 points as a team, Scottie Lindsey leading the Wildcats’ prolific offense with 16.1 points per game. The Wildcats lack a dominant big man, especially with sophomore center Dererk Pardon questionable with a hand injury. The Wildcats have held their opponents to 70 or fewer points in 12 of their games, including wins over Wake Forest and then-#22 Texas in November.
The Spartans will be without Miles Bridges once again, but the emergence of Nick Ward and Cassius Winston as significant contributors has softened the blow in the last few games. Ward led the Spartans with a double-double in their conference opening win against Minnesota on Tuesday, and Winston runs the point for Michigan State, averaging six assists per game.
