Detroit Lions: Handing Out Awards for the 2016 Season
By Zac Snyder
Most Surprising: Kerry Hyder
Kerry Hyder picks up his second award in the similar, yet different, Most Surprising category. This time, the win was more convincing than in Most Improved voting.
Name | First | Second | Third | Points |
Kerry Hyder | 5 | 1 | 17 | |
Zach Zenner | 3 | 1 | 7 | |
Taylor Decker | 1 | 1 | 3 | |
DeAndre Levy | 1 | 3 | ||
Tavon Wilson | 1 | 2 | ||
Travis Swanson | 2 | 2 | ||
Ziggy Ansah | 1 | 1 | ||
Anquan Boldin | 1 | 1 |
This was a more open-ended category considering there are good surprises and bad surprises and we see that in the voting diversity. DeAndre Levy got a first place vote here because of his lengthy injury, drama surrounding it and his performance upon his return. Ziggy Ansah also got a mention here following a season in which his impact was not as pronounced as in past seasons.
But for the most part, the focus was on pleasant surprises here and that is certainly the case with Hyder as winner, and Zach Zenner and Taylor Decker coming in second and third respectively.
