Detroit Lions Free Agent Prediction: Larry Warford
By Erik Schlitt
Prediction
When Larry Warford was available at the top of the third round in 2013, I stood up and yelled at my television for the Lions to select him. When they did, I excitedly pulled up videos of him online and showed all my friends how valuable he was going to be for the Lions.
I even changed my fantasy football team name to “Warford’s Warlords” in his honor. It would’ve been hard for someone to find a more excited Lions fan than I was that evening.
Warford is a quality player and an established veteran starter in the NFL. But at this time, it doesn’t appear he is a fit for the Lions anymore.
Scheme changes, management philosophical improvements, higher athletic benchmarks, and a rising salary are all working against Warford in this situation.
Prediction: Lions move on

As the draft season progresses, more players will present themselves as options and scheme fits for the Lions scheme, so make sure you are checking back at DetroitJockCity.com for future articles. I also recommend checking out Ash Thompson’s article on why the Lions should re-sign Warford for a different perspective than mine.
