The Detroit Red Wings head back on the road tonight as they travel to Boston to face the Bruins. The Red Wings are coming off an overtime loss to the Rangers.

The Detroit Red Wings face the slumping Boston Bruins tonight in Boston. The Bruins and Red Wings are going in opposite directions right now.

In the month of January, the Bruins have gone 3-6-2 including a current four game losing streak. In three of those four losses the Bruins have only scored more than one goal once and that was the overtime loss to the Red Wings.

The Red Wings on the other have gotten eight out of ten possible points in their last five games. Including a 1-0 overtime loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

In that game the Red Wings lost Dylan Larkin for at least a week due to a upper body injury. The Red Wings got another bad blow as they also lost Thomas Vanek on Sunday to an injury. With Larkin and Vanek out tonight the Red Wings have announced that Tomas Jurco will be in the lineup tomorrow.

As Ansar Khan wrote, Jurco must produce. Jurco has fallen out of favor with this team and now that he’s getting playing time he needs to start producing. This very well could be his last shot with the Red Wings.

Tonight, Jared Coreau is getting another start as he’s been the better goalie as of late. He saved the Red Wings a few times on Sunday and the goal he allowed in overtime, he had no chance on.

With that said, I hope that the Red Wings aren’t considering moving Mrazek and give the reins to Coreau. Helene St. James wrote about that and I have to respectfully disagree. Mrazek will be fine and he has already started playing better. Jared Coreau on the other hand has a very small sample size. I would much rather risk losing Coreau by trade or the expansion draft than lose Mrazek.

Tonight and tomorrow night are big games for the Red Wings. If they can win both games, the Red Wings will be in a great spot heading into the All Star break. A loss tonight and tomorrow would definitely be tough.
