The Michigan Basketball team will host the Ohio State Buckeyes at Crisler Center at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The basketball rivalry is certainly not as heated as the football one, but these are still two schools who do not care for one another.
Both the Wolverines and Buckeyes find themselves in the bottom half of the Big Ten Standings. Michigan, at 4-5, is in eighth place while Ohio State, at 3-7, is in 13th place.
Michigan will have the added advantage of playing at home where they’re much more comfortable. The Wolverines are 13-2 when playing at the Crisler Center this season and 0-6 when playing on the road.
If the NCAA Tournament is to be in the cards for Michigan this season, they’ll need to use the remainder of the season building up their tournament resume. As things stand they’re very much a bubble team when it comes to potential at-large selection. ESPN’s Loe Lunardi had the Wolverines as a potential No. 10 seed in his last Bracketology update.
Games like tonight’s will become must wins for Michigan. They don’t have many wins over top-flight opponents to point to so they’re going to need compile as many wins as possible to convince the selection committee that they’re worth of inclusion.
