The Purdue frontcourt is one of the most daunting in the nation, especially for an undersized Michigan State team. Caleb Swanigan is one of the most productive players in the country, averaging 18.7 points and 13 rebounds per game. 7’2″ Isaac Haas and 6’8″ Vince Edwards each contribute double-digit points and five rebounds per game.
Despite suffering a blowout loss at Michigan a week and a half ago, the Spartans have won four of their last five games since their last meeting with the Boilermakers and seem to be just barely sitting on the right side of the bubble.
Miles Bridges, who scored 33 points in Michigan State’s previous loss to Purdue, has scored in double digits in each of his last nine games. Two of Michigan State’s other freshmen have stepped up as well, Nick Ward scoring in double digits in each of the last five games and Cassius Winston has averaged 9.8 points and five assists per game during that stretch.
