Detroit Red Wings at Vancouver Canucks: Game Time, TV, Radio, Live Stream
By Mike Rizzo
The Detroit Red Wings return to the ice tonight after their bye week to face the Vancouver Canucks. This is a start of a five game road trip for them.
The Detroit Red Wings return to the ice tonight in Vancouver after their week off. The Red Wings are 11 points out of a playoff spot so it appears the 25-year playoff streak is going to end.
With the trade deadline tomorrow it’s clear the Red Wings should be selling everything they can. It wouldn’t surprise me if Thomas Vanek, Brendan Smith and the rest of the rumored names are scratched for tonight’s game.
No moves have been announced yet but the Red Wings need to do what is right and move almost anyone they can and get assets for the future.
They got a third round pick for Tomas Jurco and they should get more for Vanek. Drew Miller and Jared Coreau were called up from Grand Rapids yesterday. The Red Wings did make a good move yesterday when they re-signed defenseman Nick Jensen to a two year deal.
In the last game before the trade deadline, the Red Wings face the Vancouver Canucks. Petr Mrazek is expected to get the start for the Red Wings.
The Red Wings are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Islanders in the last game before their bye week. The results of the first game after the bye week for teams haven’t been promising. Teams are 4-12-4 in their first game after the bye week so for whatever reason the bye week hasn’t worked like the NHL has expected.
