The Detroit Lions have eight picks in the seven rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft. Here’s a full mock draft of what they could do with those picks.

There are several ways the Detroit Lions could go with their first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Sitting at 21st overall, a number of positions will be up for consideration given that the team remains far from a finished product and there are several holes to fill.

It is in the spirit of that dynamic that I put together this seven-round mock draft for the Lions. This isn’t what I think the Lions will do, nor is it necessarily what I think they should do. Simply, this is a look at what they could do.

Mock drafts are fun. Or at least, they are supposed to be. Opinions abound when it comes to the NFL Draft but if taken as an entertaining way to learn about the prospects and examining some scenarios, mock drafts can be a great way to pass the time between the Super Bowl and the draft.

Last year I did a series of Detroit Lions mock drafts in which I purposefully started off with not only a different player, but with a different position. The idea was to force a look at a different scenario since what happens with each pick will influence what happens with subsequent picks.

This is the first in the 2017 version of that series. I conducted this seven-round mock draft with the help of Fanspeak’s mock draft simulator using the Inside the Pylon draft board. I made each Lions pick while picks for the other 31 teams were simulated based on team needs and the available players from the ITP big board.

Let’s have some fun, eh? Now on to the first pick.
