Fourth Round

This makes it a 50-50 split so far between defense and offense but with Jones on the board in the fourth round, I had to make the pick. Just like you have to be careful just watching highlights, you also have to take the good and the bad in a scouting report.

That being said, what Lance Zierlein has to say in the “strengths” section of his scouting profile of Jones for NFL.com is all kinds of “yes, please!”

"All-time FBS receptions leader. Hands catcher outside the hashes and snatches it away from his frame. Swallows ball into his frame to protect it when working over the middle. Tape shows a willingness to run head-first into traffic and make the tough catch when hit is imminent. Can win all day when it comes to finishing catches at the high point. Extremely driven to succeed. Plays with good focus and footwork on catches near the sideline. Has experience working from outside and the slot."

Sold yet?

Zierlein goes on to note some weaknesses, but nothing comes across as a deal-breaker or something that can’t be fixed or improved at the next level. And hey, this is a fourth round pick. There are no perfect prospects in the fourth round.
