The Detroit Red Wings face the Edmonton Oilers tonight as they wrap up their western Canadian road trip. The Red Wings lost last night 3-2 in overtime to the Calgary Flames.
The Red Wings trailed the Flames 2-1 for most of the game until Tomas Tatar tied it up with two seconds left.
Tonight, the Red Wings face a team that finally looks like their rebuild is done. The Edmonton Oilers have been rebuilding for years and finally look like they’ve gotten it right. The Oilers are currently in second place in the Pacific Division with 76 points and most likely will be in the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
Granted, the Oilers got Connor McDavid, who leads the league in points with 72, and he has been the franchise player that the Oilers have been looking for.
Jared Coreau most likely will get the start tonight and he will have his hands full with the high scoring Oilers.
