Second Round

The need for a cornerback drops down the list of priorities if the Lions end up with Logan Ryan in free agency, as many have speculated they may try to do. If the Lions don’t make a big move at corner in free agency, it would make sense to look for one fairly early in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Darius Slay is in place for the next four years but the Lions have a lot of uncertainty behind him starting in 2018 when only Quandre Diggs is the only other corner currently on the roster that has received meaningful playing time.

Marlon Humphrey was the Lions’ first round pick in Mel Kiper’s second mock draft, but may be available later in the draft. He’s the kind of bigger corner that the Lions seem to prefer, and the NFL will be no culture shock to him since his father played in the league.
