The Michigan State Spartans will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the second round of the Big Ten tournament on Thursday.

The Michigan State Spartans (18-13, 10-8) will look to advance to the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals on Thursday when they take on the Penn State Nittany Lions (15-17, 6-12) in the second round.

The Nittany Lions lost their last five conference games before defeating Nebraska in the first round of the Big Ten tournament on Wednesday, 76-67 in overtime.

Four Nittany Lions average double-digit points, led by Tony Carr‘s 13.2 points per game, but Penn State only shoots 41.7% from the floor and 33.9% from beyond the arc as a team. Mike Watkins leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 per game, as well as 9.5 points.

The Spartans earned a first-round bye in the Big Ten tournament but remain on the NCAA tournament bubble after ending an underwhelming run of conference play with back-to-back losses to Illinois and Maryland. Miles Bridges led the team with 16.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, and Nick Ward followed with 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
