Round 2

Starting off with a safety in round one pushes bigger needs to later rounds and that should have the Lions looking to fill a major hole in round two. Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis does that.

The free agency period has basically been a net-loss for the Lions at linebacker, which was already a position of need. By releasing DeAndre Levy and making Paul Worrilow their biggest free agent linebacker addition, the Lions left themselves with major work to do at linebacker in the draft.

Davis brings some positional flexibility that would allow the Lions to play him inside or outside depending on need and fit. That’s not only important as the Lions sort out the linebacker group but for later in the draft if/when they consider adding a second linebacker to the draft class.
