The Detroit Red Wings head to Carolina tonight to play the makeup game from December 19th. That game was postponed due to a problem with the ice.

The Detroit Red Wings face the Carolina Hurricanes tonight as they try to spoil the Hurricanes playoff hopes. The Hurricanes have won three straight games, have points in 11 of their last 12 games and are playing really good hockey right now.

The Red Wings are even playing pretty good hockey. Yesterday’s win was their fourth in six games and they’ve gotten a point in five of those six games. They can’t even tank right!

All joking aside it’s good seeing that the best players have been Andreas Athanasiou, Anthony Mantha and the tandem of Jimmy Howard and Petr Mrazek.

Athanasiou scored the winning goal on a beautiful breakaway in overtime yesterday. Tomas Tatar is another player that has played extremely well as of late as he scored again yesterday. In his last nine games, Tatar has seven goals. After trading Thomas Vanek, Tatar has really turned his game around.

Petr Mrazek should get the start tonight after Jimmy Howard played yesterday. Mrazek in his last two starts has played really well.

Tonight the Red Wings face a red hot Hurricanes team that’s only five points out of the final playoff spot in the East. The Hurricanes have scored three goals or more in eight of their last ten games. Jeff Skinner has been red hot during this stretch as he has scored in five straight games.

Skinner in the month of March has scored 10 goals. Goaltender Eddie Lack most likely will start for the Hurricanes and he’s played some of his best hockey.
