Round 2

Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara is sometimes grouped with the top backs in this draft class but is more often part of the next tier in running back rankings. Kamara was a first round pick in one of Todd McShay’s mock drafts but it wouldn’t be a shock if he was available when the Lions get on the clock in the second round.

It might be a stretch to even call Kamara a poor man’s McCaffrey but he has a similar profile as a guy who can do a little bit of everything, including running inside despite not being a power back.

That being said, he has some problems with ball security and there are some character concerns. Kamara initially went to Alabama but was hurt and suspended twice in 2013 before going the JUCO route before finishing at Tennessee.

Drafting a running back this high without it being one of the top guys in the class would be a tough pill to swallow given the Lions’ other needs, particularly on defense.
