The Detroit Lions announced their preseason schedule earlier this week without set dates and times. A report out of Indianapolis locks in the opener.

We already knew the Detroit Lions would open the 2017 preseason with a road game against the Indianapolis Colts, but exact date and time was left without definition. Instead, the Lions only announced their weekly slate, leaving the date and game times as information to follow.

Here is the general schedule as previously announced.

Preseason Week 1 at Indianapolis Colts (August 10-14)
Preseason Week 2 vs. New York Jets (August 17-21)
Preseason Week 3 vs. New England Patriots (August 24-27)
Preseason Week 4 at Buffalo Bills (August 31- September 1)

The preseason schedule has started to come into more focus thanks to a tweet from Mike Chappell listing the dates and times for the Colts’ four preseason games, which includes their opener against Detroit.

A Sunday day game has been far from the norm in previous Lions’ preseasons but that’s what they’ll get in the opener.

The regular season schedule should be announced in the next couple weeks, although the Lions’ opponents have been set since the end of the 2016 regular season.
