NFL Draft 2017: Detroit Lions Seven-Round Mock Draft 4.0
By Zac Snyder
Round 2
As a draft night invitee, Washington cornerback Kevin King could find himself a first round pick – even of the Detroit Lions. Being available here in this mock draft scenario makes King a good value and an easy pick.
The 6-foot, 3-inch, 200 pound King size not typically seen at cornerback and the ability to also play safety. He first cracked the Huskies’ starting lineup as a safety before moving to cornerback where he played both outside and inside in nickel situations.
That kind of versatility is perfect for the Lions, who have an uncertain situation at cornerback heading into 2018 and have Glover Quin heading into the final year of his contract at free safety. King’s versatility gives the Lions options as the roster changes in the secondary over the next couple years.
If King can make it at cornerback, the Lions will have a place for him. If he needs to shift to safety at the next level, he’ll still be a fit.
