Detroit Lions Draft 2017: A Linebacker for Every Round
By Zac Snyder
Round 3
Alex Anzalone has it all in terms of size, speed and athleticism but as they say, the most important ability is availability. Anzalone’s Florida career was marred by injuries, including shoulder issues in 2013 and 2015 and a broken arm in 2016.
With just one college season in which he was able to play a full schedule, NFL teams are sure to be worried how Anzalone will hold up during a 16-game NFL schedule.
Anzalone’s combination of size and athleticism means he could find a role in any linebacker position in any situation, provided he can stay healthy. The ceiling is high, but the floor is low given his extensive injury history.
