Day three of the NFL draft has produced a lot of good players for the Detroit Lions in the past. Here are a few names that could add to that list in 2017.

Saturday is a bit monotonous for most fans who are still watching the draft. The most common refrain heard from television audiences when a pick is announced is: “who?” Pick after pick comes off the board that even the most seasoned draft evaluators hadn’t watched more than a moment of tape on.

The talking heads relegated to day three coverage on the NFL network scramble to find something, anything to say about a player for a few seconds before the producers start feeding them information.

Day three has provided the Detroit Lions some solid players over the years. Tahir Whitehead, Sam Martin, Theo Riddick, Nevin Lawson, Michael Burton and Quandre Diggs all played major roles for the Lions in 2016. Each of those players was selected in the fourth round or later.

This season, as with all seasons, there are a few positions that the hivemind of draft twitter, and other media outlets say are “deep.” That means that they believe that teams are going to be able to find some quality depth later in this draft. The most often cited positions of depth are running back, tight end, and defensive back in 2017.

I will give you one name at each of those positions that I do not think are getting enough hype leading up to the draft, and a bonus player at a position most are saying is relatively weak this year.
