Round 4

Get past all the five or so quarterbacks expected to go in the first or second round and you get to another tier led by Pitt’s Nathan Peterman. At 6-2, 226 pounds, he is similarly sized to the top quarterbacks in the class but doesn’t offer the athleticism or consistency of the top tier or two.

That being said, Peterman should find himself a day two or early day three draftee when it’s all said and done.

After initially enrolling at Tennessee, he appeared in 11 games for the Volunteers between the 2013 and 2014 seasons. After inconsistent playing time and some injuries, he moved on to Pitt as a rare graduate transfer with two years of eligibility and started 11 games in 2015 and all 13 games in 2016.

It wasn’t an easy path for Peterman but he wound up finding a good fit for himself and went on to lead the ACC in pass efficiency last season (ranking 8th nationally).

Peterman is a nice prospect for a team looking to invest a modest draft pick in a quarterback with some upside who could develop into something more than a career backup quarterback.
