Brandon Barnes, Alabama State

Barnes is a project that is not likely to make a major impact as a rookie. He is a nice looking athlete, but has limited tape. What there is to watch looks great at times, but he was never a featured player in his offense.

He is a player that is going to build from the ground up on the practice squad. Watching his work on the field there is a lot to like. He has a highlight reel filled with diving catches, jump balls, and a willingness to take hits for first downs. That’s a highlight reel on what appears to be his own YouTube account, give the kid some clicks.

Despite his 35″ arms he managed an impressive 20 bench reps. His times at the Alabama State pro day were equally impressive. He ran a 4.69 40 yard dash, timed 7.03s in his three cone, and put up a 4.28 shuttle.

Next: A quarterback for every round

According to Tony Pauline of draftanalyst.com, he also leapt a ludicrous 35.5 inches vertically. As far as seventh round picks and priority free agents go, Barnes rates highly among my most likely to eventually be a difference maker in the league.
