By Matt Snyder
Six players from Michigan colleges and universities were selected on day two of the 2017 NFL Draft.
There was a flurry of players taken from Michigan schools on day two of the 2017 NFL draft as six local players were selected. The Seattle Seahawks alone drafted three such players.
Here’s a look at our local draftees and where they’re headed to being their professional careers.
Round 2
Pick 3 (35th overall): Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan State — Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks got the party started with the third pick of the second day by selecting defensive tackle Malik McDowell from Michigan State. McDowell will play on the interior of a defensive line that includes former Detroit Lion Cliff Avril.
Pick 32 (64th overall): Taylor Moton, G, Western Michigan — Carolina Panthers
The end of round two saw the second Western Michigan Broncos player come off the board with the Carolina Panthers’ selection of guard Taylor Moton. Wide receiver Corey Davis was picked fifth overall by the Titans.
Moton shared his excitement over the pick on Twitter.
Round 3
Pick 10 (74th overall): Chris Wormley, DL, Michigan — Baltimore Ravens
Some wondered if Chris Wormley would go to the Detroit Lions at pick 53 overall in round two, but the versatile defensive lineman from Michigan slid into the third round where he was snatched up by the Seahawks.
Pick 28 (92nd overall): Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan — Dallas Cowboys
Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lews fell nearly a full round compared to where some experts had him pegged with the reason likely being a domestic violence charge against him.
Pick 31 (95th overall): Delano Hill, SS, Michigan — Seattle Seahawks
Whereas Lewis fell compared to some pre-draft projections, Delano Hill was a big riser. Expected by post to be a day three pick, Hill went to the Seahawks at number 95 overall.
Pick 42 (106th overall): Amara Darboh, WR, Michigan — Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks were on the clock just seven picks later and took defensive tackle Nazair Jones out of North Carolina at 102 and then came right back with the 106th pick to grab Hill’s Michigan teammate Amara Darboh.
Next: NFL Draft: What to watch for on day three
