On the last day to withdraw from the 2017 NBA Draft, Michigan big man Moritz Wagner has announced his decision to return to school.

Michigan basketball is getting a big piece back for next season. After initially declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft, Moritz Wagner has announced his decision to withdraw from the draft to remain with the Michigan Wolverines.

Wagner had the following to say in a release on the athletic department website:

"“I gained a great deal of confidence from this process and I have a clearer picture of what I need to do in order to fulfill my dreams of playing professionally in the NBA,” said Wagner. “Michigan is where I need to be right now and I am really excited about coming back. I learned a lot about myself and my game at the combine. I feel like I still have a lot to prove on this level and cannot wait to compete with my brothers for another ring.”"

Going through the pre-draft process allowed Wagner to get a feel for how he is viewed by those making decisions at the next level and to get feedback on what he needs to work on in hopes of improving his draft stock for the future.

An announcement has yet to be made by teammate D.J. Wilson. Like Wagner, Wilson declared for the draft but has the option to return because he did not hire an agent for the pre-draft process. One way or another, an announcement from Wilson should come down later today.
