Quick Lane Bowl: Start time locked in for 2017 game
By Zac Snyder
The 2017 Quick Lane Bowl finally has a set time, with kickoff to be shortly after 5:30 p.m. on December 26, 2017 at Detroit’s Ford Field.
We already knew the 2017 Quick Lane Bowl would be played on December 26. That announcement was previously made but it came with a start time of TBD. According to the bowl’s Twitter account, the time is no longer to be determined and is set for 5:30 p.m ET.
This marks the third time in the four-year history of the Quick Lane Bowl that the game will be played on December 26. The 2015 game between Minnesota and Central Michigan was played on December 28.
The 2017 Quick Lane Bowl will once again pit a Big Ten school against a foe from the ACC – provided each conference has enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all their bowl tie spots. The Quick Lane Bowl got their desired matchup of two power conference teams in 2014 and 2015, but hosted Central Michigan instead of an ACC school in 2015. However, that was hardly cause for disappointment as that game between the Chippewas and Minnesota posted the highest attendance (34,217) of the bowl’s first three games.
The Quick Lane Bowl is part of a three-game lineup for December 26 along with the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl and the Cactus Bowl. The Cactus Bowl also announced a start time today – that game is set for 9:00 p.m ET.
Next: Rule makes intended matchups harder for Quick Lane Bowl
The Heart of Dallas Bowl has not yet announced a time but based on the other two, it figures to lead off the triple-header. All three games are scheduled to air on ESPN.
